A bit about us

Kevan and Liz, a married couple living in Lewisham, South London England that's in Europe for our American friends, along with our cats.

Lizzie has a passion for Rum and Coke, Kevan enjoys a nice glass of red wine. We both enjoy chocolate!  And are vegetarians.

We suspect that at least one of the cats sneaks into the fridge to snaffle the odd chocolate but they do not share our thoughts on vegetarianism!

2008 News

June 2008

Expanding our Alpine adventures a little, we had a week in Mayrhofen. Still plenty of snow about on the high routes giving us the opportunity to try a little glacier trekking but unfortunately the snow made it a little unsafe for us to reach the top of the two highest mountains in the region, The Olperer and Ahornspitze. These will have to wait for another year.

One of the week's highlights was finding a new adventure sport - Via Ferrata - a mix between scrambling and climbing using metal holds bolted into the rock.

Lizzie was also pleased to have met one of her heroes, Peter Habeler who made the first ascent of Everest without oxygen.

September 2008 -  Back to Chamonix for two weeks

Both of us were encouraged to get out into the countryside by our respective parents and learnt to appreciate the land around us at an early stage.

It has however only been in the past few years that we rekindled this love of the countryside.

In the past few years we have completed a number of Long Distance Paths , The Coast to Coast, Dales Way, South Downs Way and North Downs Way but our enthusiasm for long trails has diminished a little preferring the challenge of high mountain routes in The Alps

We started climbing indoors a few years ago as a way to keep fit and gain confidence on some of the more difficult  mountain paths and scrambles and whilst we do not have the opportunity to climb outside very much we always take advantage of our holidays to climb in the Alps.
